flag tagging

flag tagging
Molecular biology technique, in which the gene encoding a protein of interest is mutagenised to include an epitope for which there is a good antibody. The fate of the protein in a transfected cell or transgenic organism can then be followed easily. Popular tags include the myc, green fluorescent protein or haemagglutinin epitopes. See also epitope tag.
